Facial Acupuncture: A Natural Approach to Skin Health and Beauty

What is Facial Acupuncture?

Facial acupuncture, also known as cosmetic acupuncture, is a natural and holistic approach to facial rejuvenation that aims to reduce the signs of ageing and improve skin. Facial acupuncture addresses not just surface-level concerns but also underlying imbalances that may be affecting skin health, such as hormonal issues, poor circulation, jaw clenching or digestive problems. Unlike botox, fillers, or surgical procedures, facial acupuncture is completely natural and non-invasive, with no risk of allergic reactions or unnatural-looking results.

How it Works

Facial acupuncture works on multiple levels to improve skin health and appearance. When needles are inserted into the skin, they create micro-injuries that trigger the body’s natural healing response. This process:

Stimulates Collagen Production: The micro-injuries encourage the production of collagen and elastin, the proteins responsible for skin elasticity and firmness. As we age, collagen production naturally decreases, leading to wrinkles and sagging skin.

Improves Blood Circulation: The needle insertion increases blood flow to the facial tissues, delivering essential nutrients and oxygen to skin cells while helping remove toxins and waste products.

Enhances Lymphatic Drainage: The treatment promotes lymphatic circulation, reducing puffiness and helping to eliminate excess fluid from facial tissues.

Relaxes Facial Muscles: Many fine lines and wrinkles are caused by repetitive muscle contractions. Facial acupuncture helps relax these muscles, smoothing expression lines and preventing new ones from forming.

What to Expect During Treatment

A typical facial acupuncture session begins with a consultation where I will assess your skin and discuss any areas of concerns and your overall health. The treatment will involve:

  • Cleansing of the face and neck
  • Facial massage and or Tuina mainly working on the fascia of the skin and any special concerns which will help also to promote lymphatic drainage.
  • Ultra fine needles will then be placed in specific areas of the face and also on the body
  • Red light therapy lamp will be placed over the face and neck with 30 minutes of relaxation while the needles remain in place

My skin has improved enormously following a course of facial acupuncture and Celluma light therapy from Mel. I have been complimented about how well I look and I know myself that I look and feel so much better. I have a stressful job. However, since having the treatments, I have been able to deal with things more clearly and I feel positive and full of energy. I can’t recommend Mel enough. The facial massage felt great and I was able to continue with the techniques at home. I enjoyed each treatment and I felt relaxed and rejuvenated after each session. Thank you!
