Cupping Therapy
What is Cupping Therapy?
Cupping is an age-old technique used in traditional Chinese medicine to stimulate Acupuncture points or larger areas of the body and can be used to help tight muscles, where there is not sufficient circulation and pain. Physical.pain implies a blockage in the flow of blood and other vital substances through a particular area. When toxins or cell waste stagnate in the muscles or joints, it can be difficult for the body to get rid of this waste, causing further blockage and discomfort
By utilising cupping techniques we are able to pull the blockage out of the deeper tissue to the skins surface enabling the body to eliminate toxins and creating fresh new blood to those areas, revitalising and restoring proper blood flow.
What to expect when you come for treatment
- The session will start by preparing the body for cupping by gentle tuina techniques in the back to loosen the fascia before moving on to moving cupping.
- Moving cupping is especially good for pain as it helps to release fascia which can tighten up, causing muscle tightness, pain, adhesions or knots. It is also good for moving Qi and blood, and help nourish the body and stimulate organ function it also just feels good and can feel similar to a back massage
- The cups will then be placed on and around certain areas of the back and left on for upto 20 minutes
